VCCA / Virginia - days 13-22

Artist residencies are designed for contemplation and solitude.  I was at VCCA for a month to do a residency in social media, and had planned to plot my travel for the next 3 months, do a bunch of writing for grants and funding, and sort through images and video.   I didn't photograph much while I was there - instead focusing on work that had to be done on the computer. I ended up  having to leave after two weeks because the internet was not reliable and it was difficult to do the work I had set out to do.   I did manage to do a little exploring with my new friends/colleagues and some great thrifting as well.

The horses always greet us on the way to the studio

The Great American Road Trip

I have done small trips for this project over the last 1.5 years - but this is the first time I have been on one giant road trip in my car. Come find me on the road or follow the visual journey

VCCA / Amherst, Virginia - days 5-12

I spent my time at VCCA catching up on sleep, eating three meals a day, reading, plotting my cross country adventure and setting up my studio.  There were about twenty of us at any given time, mostly writers and mostly ladies.   The writers head salon style readings after dinner which gave everyone an opportunity to get to know each other and our respective work a little better.  I made some new friends and explored the rural countryside and town of Amherst (where I found the great murals).
