Adventures in NYC-day 7-Carroll Gardens & East Williamsburg

On my last day in New York, I was up bright and early for a morning shoot back in Carroll Gardens with Joni, her husband, Eric and their grown children, Zoe and Gabe.  I met Joni when we asked her to donate a copy of her gorgeous book, Surfland to Photo a GoGo and she generously agreed.  She also came to one of my openings in NYC, so we got to me in real life a few years back and have continued an online correspondence.  Shooting fellow artists is hard, fellow photographers even harder, and ones as respected as Joni & Eric, even harder. However, Joni's excitement about the shoot and their warm welcome into their lovely home made it not so intimidating.

Then back to 5M to pack, regroup and a quick nap before my final shoot with artists Ridley and his wife, Holly in East Williamsburg.  I met Ridley only once at a party a few years ago in the city at Kanishka's and we had a nice chat about art and have been e-mailing here and there.  I was able to see one of his shows and really loved his paintings so it was great he agreed to be part of the project.  It was also nice to meet Holly, like Joni & Eric, both were very welcoming.

Then off to JFK for the short and sweet flight home.  I hope Jet Blue continues to keep the air fare cheap and I never have to drive the 6 hours to NY again.
