Adventures in Chicago - days 3&4

On Monday, I spent the day at the University of Chicago (the reason I was in Chicago to begin with).  I gave two talks, one last minute to Laura Letinsky's students and one that Jenn was kind enough to pre-arrange and bring me out for the Contemporary Art Workshop for PhD/Mfa art history students.   Laura and I show at Carroll and Sons in Boston together and I have admired her work for a long time so it was great to meet her and an honor to talk to her class.

Then off to meet my sister Emma who flew in from Boston and JennL for drinks at Bluebird and killer late night tacos at Big Star.

On Tuesday I didn't have a shoot until the late afternoon, so I got to be a little bit of a tourist.  I met Emma, JennL and their friend Robyn for brunch at Small Bar and then Robyn dropped us off downtown for a drink at the John Hancock building.

Then off to photograph Magalie who I met through my friend Angela in NYC a bunch of  years ago.  She is a fellow artist and lives in a beautiful afternoon light filled apartment in Logan Square.  We had a beer and caught up on art and life over the last several  years since her move to Chicago and MFA from the Art Institute.

Then off to meet Emma & JennL again for a late night snack at Longman & Eagle.  They are both in the food/booze industry so it was a pleasure being able to travel with the two of them since they were on a mission to find the best restaurants and bars in Chicago.  And they have a way of charming the bartenders so a large portion of the bill was always comped.

Chicago loves their pretzels, this was so good, I got two
